Reeth - Late Iron Age trade route?

Whilst investigating the region a third site has been shown to have strong links with Piercebridge, this is the Iron Age battle site of Reeth. Reeth is a significant Iron Age settlement area, its inhabitants rich in the much desired resource of lead. There is strong evidence that a major trade route for the lead mined in Reeth ran the river at Piercebridge in the pre-Roman era. A possible track has been identified, running north east from Reeth, through the Castle Steads and Stanwick hill forts to end at Piercebridge. This is marked with tumuli, holy wells and springs as well as the previously mentioned hill forts.
