Reek 'Donut' burial mound

The locality of Reek and Hemelrijk, in The Netherlands is a Bronze age graveyard, this page records two of the mounds. Hemelrijk was surveyed in 1957. The mound at reek was surveyed by BrigantesNation in 2002.

Location information

The village of Reek is between Oss and Nijmegen. Netherlands

Finds

Surface investigation of the site has uncovered a large number of carved stone items, these are catalogued here. Explanitary notes will be added when available. The burial monud is thought to date between 2300 and 1700BC.

 

Two sides of the same stone, found within the burial mound at Reek. both faces appear to have been etched.

Dicelike stones with accurate scratchlines very square 1 = 1.5/1.5 cm and 1 cm broad. Closer inspection shows the dice have been scored with accurate lines, the diagram below shows this more clearly.

Tools. Nice set same stone, right handed person.

2 weighstones -2/2 cm- 4/4/4 cm both thick 1.5 cm, 1 small something like splitting thing, 1 squire on the make. 1 with something vagely on it. 2 tinpebbles (no tin here).
